Love Out of Bounds
Welcome to OurStory Scotland
OurStory Scotland is a recognised Scottish Charity. We collect, archive and present the life stories and experiences of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender) community in Scotland. This involves oral history work with all ages, including the older generation, whose stories reveal the tremendous changes that have occurred in the situation of LGBT people during their lifetime. In addition to collecting stories, images, artefacts and research materials from LGBT lives, we present our heritage through the arts, in exhibitions, storytelling and drama.
OurStory Scotland dates back to the beginning of the 21st century - read about our origins in the Story of OurStory Scotland, and see some of our past achievements in our chronology. Our news includes several awards, including grants from Communities Scotland, the Scottish Arts Council and Creative Scotland.
We hope you will contribute to our activities and help to ensure that our stories are kept alive. Do take part, tell your story and encourage others to participate, so that untold tales are told. Just contact us and we'll let you know the various ways you can participate.
You can now tell us online about your life:
Through a sample of online excerpts, you can get a flavour of the oral history we have undertaken, as everyone has tales to tell:
Open to All
In accordance with our belief in a diverse Scotland, OurStory Scotland is open to all supporters of our aims, regardless of gender, sexuality, disability, race, ethnicity, religion, culture and community. We are dedicated to social inclusion and the celebration of diversity.
Diversity is intrinsic to Love Out of Bounds, an innovative project that brings together a wide range of participants, including people from minority ethnic groups, irrespective of gender and sexuality. Participants may be LGBT, straight, curious, queer or undefined. Love Out of Bounds encourages people to tell their stories of love ignored or rejected by their family, community or culture. We are finding common ground between straight and LGBT people, and people from majority and minority ethnic communities.
Being represented on these webpages does not imply any particular sexual orientation. Views expressed by contributors to OurStory Scotland do not necessarily reflect the views of OurStory Scotland.
